The specifics of office work require appropriate adaptation of the space we occupy. This applies not only to the proper furnishing and tooling of the workstation but also to its adequate lighting.

Working at a computer, preparing documentation, client meetings – these are just some aspects of daily office life. To facilitate their execution, it is important to ensure that the work environment is both functional and pleasant. A crucial element determining the office atmosphere is its proper lighting. Thanks to this, we are more efficient, it's easier for us to concentrate, and – importantly – fatigue resulting from the constant adaptation of vision to different light levels is minimized.

According to current standards, in rooms where people spend extended periods (including offices), light sources with a color rendering index of at least 80 Ra should be installed. To meet this requirement, non-integrated fluorescent lamps are often used. It is also worth paying attention to the color temperature of the emitted light. For example, Helios non-integrated fluorescent lamps emit neutral light with a temperature of approximately 3000 K, suitable for daily office functioning. If, however, we aim to increase concentration, it is worth opting for linear fluorescent lamps that emit cool light, oscillating around 6000 K (e.g., T5 and T8 Helios linear fluorescent lamps).

An important factor guiding our choice of lighting is its energy efficiency. Therefore, light source manufacturers are working on solutions that allow for an increasing amount of light with decreasing power consumption. A good example of the result of technological development is Helios T8 LED linear lamps, whose luminous efficacy reaches approximately 90 lm/W. High-pressure ceramic metal halide lamps also offered by the company are very effective – their luminous efficacy reaches almost 95 lm/W. When deciding on this type of lamp, however, it should be remembered that they are intended only for use in enclosed luminaires containing appropriate electrical equipment.

To adapt the lighting as much as possible to our needs, it is worth considering not only the main lighting already mentioned but also local lighting. Brightening specific parts of the room is possible thanks to the use of spotlights, such as Helios LED Spot lamps. The beam angle of the light they emit – 60° – allows for precise adjustment of the lighting, tailored to our needs.
